TERM 2
WEEK 5
WEEK 5
Easter Message
How quickly the term has gone! Those words have been a common narrative coming from staff and families over the past few weeks. Our Kindergarten learners are ‘in the flow’ of school life. We also have our Year 6 students three terms away from graduating their time in primary school.
With the busyness of life, it can be so easy to miss the golden moments that are present in our lives. Taking the time to be present in the moment and be grateful is backed by neuroscience as a key foundation to positive wellbeing.
As we lead into Easter, I encourage us all to make time to be reflective, mindful and present in the message and resurrection power of Jesus.
When Jesus rose from the dead, he took all suffering, grief, anxiety and loss on our behalf.
At the moment of Christ's resurrection, His focus, and ours, turned to the future.
Yours in Christian Service
Brad Moss
1 Peter 1:3 says "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."
We are invited by Christ, to leave our concerns at His feet and focus on the new day, with all its potential for joy.
St Paul’s staff pray for a safe and fun-filled term break and we look forward to seeing you for an exciting Term 2.
A highlight of mine has been having our Kinders with us for one whole term. What they lack in height they make up for in so many other ways. We can learn a lot from the youngest members of our school and we’ve enjoyed getting to know them and having them part of our community. Not everyone can say they fit in their own schoolbag!
Our Wellbeing focus for Term 2 is all about EMPATHY. We’re looking forward to extending our learning journey as we act with love and compassion, showing respect for other’s stories and practice listening first. Excitingly, we will be getting out into the community to bless others through random acts of kindness. We look forward to welcoming Celia from ALWS in Week 4 as we see empathy and love in action.
I get to Easter every year and ask myself the same question… Where has the time gone? Term 1 has flown by, but more than this, it’s been a settled and positive term. We’ve welcomed Christine Biar to our team and it feels like she’s always been part of SPH! We’ve had our intensive swimming week plus the Swimming Carnival and the Cross Country is happening this week. There have been other sporting events; Netball, Footy – Congratulations to Micah for making the CIS team! Amazing achievement! Our Wellbeing program has been implemented and we’re all okay with making mistakes and hopefully learning from them. Learning is in full swing with the new English and Maths syllabus being implemented across all classrooms. Alison celebrated her one year of work anniversary after taking over from Janine at the end of Term 1 last year. We’ve changed our structure back to three classes. The list could go on. I wonder what your highlights have been?
I pray that everyone has a truly blessed Easter break. We spoke about Easter traditions in a staff devotion this week. My family will definitely be decorating the Easter baskets, cranking up – The Easter Song by Keith Green, first thing Easter Sunday morning, attending church and enjoying good food and chocolate together. I pray that whatever traditions you hold dear in your home, are enjoyed with your loved ones this Easter as we celebrate that Jesus has risen, just as He said He would.
I look forward to seeing all students back for another term of fun and learning on Wednesday 26th April.
Blessings,
Hollie

We had the privilege of leading chapel last week, and showing our risk taking skills by being brave when speaking in front of others. Well done to all students, who spoke clearly and confidently.
I hope everyone has a fantastic Easter and a relaxing break from school routines. I look forward to a lot more learning and growing in Term 2!
Kinder have completed their first term of school! Congratulations to all Kinders for a wonderful start to their school journey!
The K/1 class have enjoyed many different measurement activities in maths, including measuring length, height, area and volume. We can’t wait to see how much taller we get over the year!
The Year 1's accepted the challenge of making a storage box to hold 30 beads. This involved a lot of fiddly work, but look at the amazing results!

PBL is well under way and our students have been working hard at researching a celebration or commemoration from around the world. We are getting to know each other in our groups and figuring out each other’s skills. Collaboration isn’t always the easiest thing to do, however, it certainly is a necessary skill to work on.
Our driving question is: How can we as ambassadors use celebrations to remember significant events?
Our PBL unit is well underway, with groups beginning to plan their project that will be displayed during the Showcase next term. We have investigated different mining techniques like panning and have looked at the story behind the Eureka Flag. PBL is definitely creating some excitement for our class camp to Ballarat in Week 5 next term!
5/6 have had a fantastic first term and I cannot wait for what Term 2 brings us!
Have a safe and enjoyable holiday.
Many blessings,
Miss Katie Ridley
This term in Creative Arts students have been exploring the theme ‘All About Me’ through the artforms of Visual Arts and Drama. They have drawn a caricature version of themselves, used technology to create an avatar in their likeness, used their name as the focus of a piece of art, and mimed some of their favourite activities.
Check out the photos of the students’ amazing creations and see if you can guess who they belong to! (some may be more obvious than others 😊)
