TERM 2
WEEK 5
WEEK 5
Lastly, we are school that values communication. Please keep informed with school related events via the website Family Hub (stpaulshenty.nsw.edu.au) and for any special dates of events. You can also be informed by checking your emails regularly. Facebook will be used for promoting learning and sharing successes of our students.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s learning, please email your child’s teacher or call the front office to book a time to meet face-to-face. Hollie and myself are always available if you require guidance or clarifications regarding any information that isn’t directly linked to your child’s classroom teacher.
I am looking forward to a fantastic year of learning!
Our Learner Profile is also a solid foundation that guides our students in ‘the how’ they approach their learning. We aim for our students to value knowledge, be confident to take risks and understand that failing is a chance to learn and grow.
Welcome back to a new year at St Paul’s. It has been great to hear the exciting stories and fun times our students have experienced over the summer break. Like every year, the school is too quiet in the holiday period and it is always a good feeling having our students return for day one.
We offer a special welcome to our Kindergarten students and all new students and families to the team.
With the beginning of a new year, it is a perfect time to refocus on the importance of who we are as a school at St Paul’s. All staff extend their commitment to our families as we work together to inspire learning and growth in our students.
While there is a major focus on teaching and learning, we strive to offer far more than that. When a family joins a Lutheran school, they become part of a community which strives to be a secure place which offers warm, caring relationships and a safe environment. A Lutheran school sees each student as being unique with their own particular gifts and needs. The approach is not to ask what students and their families can do for the school, but what the school can do for them.
Lutheran schools have developed a special vision which is based on teachings of the Bible. As a Christian learning community, St Paul’s aspires to provide a culture and ethos permeated by the core values of love, justice, compassion, forgiveness, service, humility, courage, hope, quality and appreciation.
Yours in Christian Service
Brad Moss
What a great start to the year we’ve had!
It appears that all students have had a great break and now ready to get back into learning.
It was wonderful to have parents and other guests present for our Year 6 Leaders Installation service. Pastor John Borchert gave us a great message on Salt and Light. The students (and staff) always enjoy John’s messages. He often does a science experiment highlighting the main message. Like any scientist would know, things don’t always work the first time, but entertaining none-the-less. We look forward to working alongside our Year 6 team to further develop their leadership skills.
Blessings,
Hollie Kinning
This year we have changed our Chapel and assembly format slightly. We will be having Chapel every Tuesday morning at 9:15am in the hall. All parents and friends welcome to attend. Your child’s class have been rostered on to lead chapel and you’ll find this date on the welcome newsletter that was emailed to you on Monday.
Every Thursday we will have a short assembly where we sing the National Anthem, share notices for the upcoming week and reminders, plus an opportunity to talk all things Learner Profile. This term our focus is ‘I am… A Risk-Taker’. To get us started on our journey, today in our assembly I shared this video on perseverance: Grit & Perseverance:
An SEL Video for Kids | Intel Essential Skills EP05 - YouTube
We discussed synonyms of the word perseverance. Such as: determination, endurance, grit, stamina, drive and dedication. To add to our school well-being program in 2023, all students have a Learner Profile Journal. There are explicit teaching that will occur and where learning/working is recorded in our journals. Today we began thinking about a goal in regard to Risk Taking.
No doubt all students are starting to feel rather tired with a week of swimming. A huge thank you to Katie Ridley and Bek Lubke for their hard work in leading our program this year. I look forward to seeing many of you at the Swimming Carnival, if not before, next Friday 17th February.

The K/1 class have had a wonderful start to the school year. The Year Ones have been great role models for the new Kinders, and they have all helped me as well! We have enjoyed starting IntiaLit again, as well as learning some new maths games. Swimming each afternoon has been fun and we are all experts at getting changed quickly!
We are looking forward to more learning in the other KLAs next week after swimming has finished.
Thank you to everyone for your warm welcome to the St Paul’s community. I look forward to lots of learning this year!
Christine Biar & Lucy Phelps
What a great start we’ve had to our year! All students have come to school happy and ready to learn.
We’ve been enjoying a week of maths challenges where we really have to challenge our thinking and push ourselves out of our comfort zones. Curious learners are what we’re aiming to be in 2/3/4.
Goal setting: We have started talking about goal setting in class. It has been great being able to look over our Cold Write texts and self-assess them, to decide what we need to work on.
Some goals are: -
To use more adjectives in our writing
To use more punctuation when writing (! ? “ “ … ; : )
To write interesting and longer texts.
It’s going to be a good year in 2/3/4!
Reminder: Please send in headphones with your child if you haven’t already. We ask that all students have their own set to use at school.
Hollie Kinning & Felicity Habermann
Hi everyone, 5/6 had a fantastic first week back!
Once we had settled into our new classroom and shared stories from our holidays, we got creative and made our own pencil cases! We enjoyed the sunshine and went outside to play various sports and games.
This week we have been swimming each afternoon and learning about water safety.
Blessings,
Katie Ridley

We are looking forward to a great day next Friday (17th February) for our Swimming Carnival.
The carnival will begin at 9.30 am with races to start by 9.45 am.
Students may arrive at the pool from 9.15 am. If your child is coming to school that morning, they need to be here by 9.15 am to allow for time to walk to the pool. We will have two breaks throughout the day – a short break at approx. 11 am and a BBQ lunch at approx. 1.00 pm, provided by the P & F (tea & coffee available for adults). Students are encouraged to snack between races to keep up their energy levels. There will be NO CANTEEN on the day.
Students are encouraged to wear their house colours – GREEN for Buckargingah and RED for Mundawadra, otherwise their sports uniform.
Please remember to bring: your school hat, swimmers, a rashie, towel, sunscreen, snacks, and a drink bottle.
Please keep in mind:· * YR6 vs PARENTS / FRIENDS RACE (Yr6 students to find a parent/friend to race against)
* PARENTS / FRIENDS RELAY (Buckingingah vs Mundawadra)
Looking forward to seeing you next week.
Next Tuesday will be St Paul's Graduation & Awards Night.
We ask all students to meet at the School Hall at 6:15pm.
Families please bring a plate of supper to share at the conclusion of the evening.
Students are able to wear casual clothes to school on Tuesday to help ensure all uniforms are clean. Please wear white socks and black shoes.
Wednesday 14 December
CHRISTMAS COLOURS DAY
Rather than holding individual class parties this year, students are invited to dress up in Christmas colours to celebrate the Festive Season and the end of our school year for 2022.
A big thank you to the P&F who have offered to cook us up a sausage sizzle lunch, which we will enjoy at first lunch.
In the afternoon we will be off to the Henty Pool for a swim. Please make sure students bring their swimmers to get changed into, plus a hat, towel and water bottle.
