A Timely Message About Positive Parenting

Mother's Day

Last weekend, we celebrated the strong, supportive and special mothers and motherly figures in our lives. I have been blessed with a mother who was always available, always loving and always an encourager.  I can look back on the life lessons she shared and the guidance provided that has now become a part of how I parent. Like it says in the passage from Song of Solomon, we can take the positive lessons taught by our mothers to then impart in our lives with our friends, families and own children.

It was fantastic to see so many mothers turn up to our Chapel last Friday! A very special event. Happy Mother’s Day!

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Parent Feedback Session

Reminder that we are holding Parent Feedback Sessions (PFS) on Tuesdays, 2:45pm in Weeks 3, 6 and 9 each term. The purpose of these sessions are to provide an opportunity to showcase areas of growth and development at our school. They are also a genuine way of providing parent voice and a platform to raise questions, concerns and provide feedback that informs staff of parent needs and areas to develop. We held a session this Tuesday with Hollie and our next session is Tuesday 31 May at 2:45pm.

2023 Kindergarten and New Families Open Day

Tuesday 7 June at 1:30pm – 3pm will be our first 2023 Kindergarten and New Families Open Day. The purpose of this session is to provide an opportunity for any prospective new families who are interested in St Paul’s, to be able to see our school in action and to hear about what makes us who we are. I encourage our existing families to share this date with any people you are connected to that may be interested to hear about our wonderful school!

Invitation to our Term 2 Parent Information Session

We will be holding our Term 2 Parent Information Session in our Hall on Tuesday 14 June at 6:30pm. We will use the session as an update to share all the exciting developments at our school.

Principal Conference

I will be absent throughout Week 3 as I am attending the Bi-Annual Lutheran Principal Conference in Hahndorf, SA. It is a fantastic opportunity to share with our students that staff at St Paul’s are on a continual learning journey, even as adults. Learning never stops! I am looking forward to sharing my learnings with our students, staff and families on return.

Yours in Christian Service,

Brad Moss

HAPPENINGS WITH HOLLIE

Empathy

Our focus this term is really taking shape! Talking about empathy and trying to recognise it in action around school is exciting and we are loving it that students are starting to pick up on the great things that others are doing. Every Friday students and staff have the opportunity to hand out a 'Pat on the Back' award. Below is a photo of our first four recipients and the students who wanted to acknowledge them for showing love/empathy to either themselves or others.

Wellbeing with Lucy

The more we call on the Lord the more we can feel his Presence.
Day by day he draws us closer to his loving heart.

On our very last day of Term 1 we set our wellbeing goals. On our very first day back with Lucy this term we took the time to review and refine these goals. We asked ourselves why these goals are important to us, we remembered those skills we already have to help us on this journey.

Collectively our goals are goals of focus and attention, of calm and confidence, goals of kindness and of empathy. These goals are important to us because they help us to live in Jesus’ image.

We took time this week to understand how learning happens inside our brains. We now know that billions of tiny neurons move closer and closer together as we practice day by day our new skills.

Keep us in your prayers as day by day we move closer and closer towards our wellbeing goals.

Blessings,

Hollie Kinning

MOTHER'S DAY CHAPEL & MORNING TEA

It's been a really settled start to the term.

In Maths we've been working on Multiplication/groups of/arrays. Students have enjoyed being hands on with counters and other objects to make equal groups in arrays to work out the total amount.

We've gone back over our learning goals and modified them slightly depending on whether we feel we got to where we wanted to or if we need to keep practicing.

We love creating, designing and building in K-2!

YEAR K/1/2

Our PBL project this term is under way and 3-6 are becoming fashion designers! Their task is to create a sustainable fashion range using old fabrics that would have otherwise been discarded. 3-6 will explore how different fabrics are made, the impact of material waste, and how we can make fashion sustainable.

Their PBL projects from last term were fantastic! 3-6 should all be very proud of their efforts!

At the end of last term, 3-6 also enjoyed a netball gala day in Albury. Thank you to the families who came and cheered for us on the day!

TUCKSHOP MENU

If you find that you never seem to get around to returning cans and bottles for the 10c refund then we might have the solution you've been looking for! We will have a specially designated recycling bin in the lunch area for refundable bottles, and we would be happy to add yours to our collection. All money raised will be made available for the students to put towards resources and equipment, which they will collaborate their spending  ideas with teaching staff.
