TERM 2
WEEK 5
WEEK 5
It is personally hard to believe that I have been part of the St Paul’s school community for 2 Years!
Throughout my time at Henty and my past five years as Principal of St John’s, one area I have intentionally invested my energy and focus on, is building staff collaboration within our school team. This intent is also true for the building of relationships with our colleagues from our four Riverina schools in Henty, Jindera, Walla and Wagga.
The desire for our Riverina Lutheran schools to collaborate is wholeheartedly supported by our school Principals, board members and staff. This commitment to Lutheran Riverina Education has resulted in the creation of Inspired.
Yours in Christian Service

3. A safe space for students to grow: We provide a comfortable, positive and safe space for our students to learn and grow as people and lifelong learners in an environment that values diversity, acceptance and inclusivity. We believe that building a strong sense of community makes our schools places of belonging, which benefits everyone.
4. Innovative learning and teaching for life beyond the classroom: At INSPIRED schools, our students learn to learn. Our well-qualified staff value lifelong learning and invest in their own development as well as the development of their students. Our innovative, engaging and rich curriculum challenges students while equipping them to make a positive and meaningful contribution to society. While we value academic excellence, our focus is bigger than the classroom. For us, it’s about expanding minds and possibilities.
5. Stronger together: INSPIRED schools benefit from interdependence. We are a resource to each other. As a community, we are stronger than the sum of our individual parts. Just as our schools are stronger together, we instil in our students and families the understanding that they are part of something larger than themselves.
I am excited about the potential of Inspired and increasing positive school experiences for our learners. Our goal is to INSPIRE students for life!
What is InspirED?
1. A seamless P-12 Lutheran education in the Riverina: INSPIRED is a community of four Riverina-based Lutheran schools providing a seamless educational experience from Pre-school to Year 12. INSPIRED families can expect a consistent approach underpinned by Lutheran values and a shared understanding of purpose and educational excellence.
2. Caring, committed and child-centred: At INSPIRED schools, we consider the whole person and appreciate each student’s individuality, circumstance, contributions and challenges. We define educational excellence in terms of the support we provide the individual student to be at their best in terms of wellbeing, belonging and community connectedness, and exploring and reaching their academic and personal potential, whatever that may be.
The weather has been beautiful the last two weeks and as a result, there has been a lot of fun happening at lunch time. Our Year 6 leaders have been running clubs which has proven to be very popular. It’s not easy leading a group of people and getting them to do what you want them to, so I commend them on what’s been a really successful initiative so far.
Around the grounds there have been some other fun activities occurring at lunchtime. The chalk has resurfaced and the soft fall is now looking very bright and colourful and our back garden now has a very creative fairy garden. We love it when our students show curiosity and creativity through play.
Blessings,
Hollie
Ephesians 4:32 says, ‘Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.’
The ultimate example has been set for us through Christ. Jesus gives the instruction in the midst of his teaching to love everyone. He tells us that it doesn’t matter what someone else does to you. Love them. Be kind anyway.
Kindness is the most important tool to change the world.
Kindness is free! Sprinkle it everywhere!
The focus for our Wellbeing Program this term is… I am empathetic. We have been discussing the importance of showing love and compassion to others. In chapel today I shared some examples of times that I’ve made a mistake and had to ask for forgiveness. It’s not great and I don’t like admitting it, but there was a time when I completely bent the hay rake. I suppose I forgot what I was pulling behind the tractor and trust me when I say that those cement fence posts are not overly forgiving. My dad is one of the most patient people I know. Growing up I only ever remember him raising his voice at me once… this was that time. I thought I was helping, but in fact I created more work for him. It’s only natural that we respond with anger in the moment. We are human! However, my Dad showed kindness after the initial reaction by doing just what Jesus does for us every time we fall short. He opened his arms and said, “Hollie, I’m sorry. I forgive you.” This forgiveness was undeserved and is definitely love in action.

We have begun a PBL unit on toys. All the students enjoyed bringing a favourite toy to school and playing with it with their friends. There will be more exciting activities happening throughout the next few weeks!
Next Wednesday the K/1 class will again visit the town library, this time to participate in National Simultaneous Storytime. We look forward to that.
What an amazing job the K/1 class did with the Mother’s Day Chapel! I was so proud of how they spoke and sang their song to their mothers. Well done everyone! I hope all the mothers enjoyed the special time and thought given to them last Tuesday and on Sunday.
In maths, we have been looking at shapes, and in particular, the shapes within shapes. You would be amazed at how many other shapes we could find within a square.
We also found a lot of different shapes within a hexagon. We then used the shapes to form beautiful mandalas.

Students have been investigating the traditions of ANZAC Day, Harmony Week, Australia Day and NAIDOC Week in PBL.
Using this information, they have planned a celebration of their chosen event, including food, entertainment, music, activities or ceremonies and how they are significant, a schedule for activities happening throughout their celebration, and a poster to promote their event.
Our PBL projects are almost finished and just in time for our Sovereign Hill camp next week! It will be very exciting to see the connection between our projects and camp.
Year 6 have begun clubs at school this term.
Aiden’s organised a tennis tournament, Faith is a running a gymnastic club, John will run the garden club, Oscar is leading a Lego club and the sun has been shining for Blake & Micah’s footy club on the oval. They will also be organising some fundraisers this term!
This week we spent some time playing sport with our K/1 buddies.
We love spending time with our buddies!
Many blessings,

Yesterday, seven 5/6 students (Micah, Blake, John, Ty, Aiden, Mitch and Zoe) went to Culcairn for the Paul Kelly Cup.
We teamed up with St Joseph’s Culcairn. The girls unfortunately lost all their games. The boys won the grand final and will move onto the next level.
