TERM 2
WEEK 5
WEEK 5
Neurodiversity awareness is vital for promoting inclusivity and generating an understanding of individual needs in our school. This encompasses conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and others. By acknowledging and appreciating neurodiversity, we move away from the idea of a 'one-size-fits-all' approach to education. Instead, we celebrate the unique strengths and perspectives of everyone around us. This shift enables us to celebrate the unique strengths and perspectives that neurodiverse individuals offer. It also helps to combat stigma and misconceptions that have historically marginalised neurodiverse individuals, fostering greater acceptance, understanding and support.
"We need to embrace neurodiversity as a tapestry of brilliance, for within each unique mind lies extraordinary potential waiting to be unleashed. By celebrating our differences we create a world of understanding and acceptance."
Dr Michael Carr-Gregg

We are getting closer to our undercover project being finished. The ground cover is being laid next week, Monday of Week 9. We are looking forward to the finished product and having a formal opening of both the AFL posts and the COLA. Keep an eye on emails for an invitation.
It’s amazing the twists and turns that life can throw at us and at these moments, it’s great to remember that God is in control.
Brad has sent out a letter informing you that there are challenges within our Riverina Lutheran School Community and right now, our prayers are with Dylan from Lutheran School Wagga Wagga.
Blessings,
Hollie
As of the 4th March I will be joining Lutheran School Wagga Wagga for 6 weeks and although I have mixed feelings about not being at Henty, in the community I know and love, it is great to support people in their time of need.
I have full confidence in the staff in Henty to do an incredible job while I’m away and I’m sure all will run smoothly. Thank you for all your incredible support as a school family. Six weeks will be over before we know it.
I look forward to connecting with you next week at our Friday Night Gathering.

What a great time K,1 students had with their latest Maths investigation. We had to let cars run down a ramp and measure how far they rolled. Then we had to investigate how we could make them go further. The weights weren’t so successful but making the ramp longer was an epic success!
So great to hear the students’ excitement as they combined all the maths learning they have done over the last few weeks into real life maths.
We have started our PBL unit, which is all about living things and what they need to survive. We have planted bean and sunflower seeds and it has been so exciting to see them sprout! We look forward to seeing them thrive under out dutiful care!

What an amazing time we had on camp! Last week, 2/3/4 went to Harrietville on an outdoors based camp. Paul Kinning, Trina Copeland and the Year 10 Sports and Rec class (Victory Lutheran College) led the activities which included kayaking, low ropes, archery and circus skills. Tuesday night, we tested our general knowledge at trivia.
To top off the trip, we stopped in Bright for two scoops of ice-cream!
Blessings,
Miss Ridley
Back in class, we have been busy with our Maths Trek investigation ‘All about Birthdays’. We collected data, created graphs and analysed the results. The months with the most birthdays are February, July, November and December. This year our birthdays mostly fall on a Friday.
In English, we have been focusing on speech marks to represent dialogue in our imaginative writing. To help remember where to correctly place speech marks, we having been using the macaroni speech marks strategy!
The Year 6 students were very excited to receive their Year 6 T-shirts! These will be proudly worn all year.
For the last two Wednesdays, the Year 6s have shown leadership skills by organising some tabloid activities for the rest of the school. We have enjoyed activities such as Bin Ball, Catch the Flag, Catch the Bacon, parachute, footy kicking and European handball.
Thank you to the Year 6s for stepping up and teaching the activities. It was great to see everyone responding positively to the activities organised.
Welcome to Autumn! I can’t believe that we are already in March and the weather has already transitioned to much cooler mornings. The change of the season has me reflecting on summer and the things that I have been grateful for over the past three months. I absolutely LOVE the warmer weather and extra-long days, so I am able to enjoy my family, swim in the evenings, sit under the shade of a tree with an ice-cream and take a walk after dinner to watch the sunset. These summer days that the Lord makes, certainly make me sit up and realise how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful part of the world.
These simple things that make us feel good are often forgotten when we are struggling with the pressures of daily life, traumatic events and negative emotions. Some research suggests that practicing gratitude can deepen the feelings of gratefulness and improve our wellbeing. Moreover, it can have a positive impact on the people in our family and friendship circle.
One way that we can remind ourselves (and others) of what and who we appreciate is to tell someone. I challenge you to identify a specific person in your life and tell them why you are grateful for them – it could be over the phone, text or in person.
If you feel you might like to learn more about happiness and gratitude, the SchoolTV website has some great articles on how you bring this practice into your family. See the link below.

It was a perfect way to start the school year to gather at St Paul's Lutheran Church to pray in the new school year at the beginning of term. It was a nice and toasty summer's day to then head to the Henty Pool for our Welcome BBQ. Thank you to all our friends and families who were able to attend what was an enjoyable day.
The P&F Executive for 2024 is as follows:

Treasurers - Rachelle & Andrew Cunningham
We thank our outgoing VP & Secretary, Kym Bisset & Megan Klemke for the valuable contributions you have both made over the past years, and we welcome Craig & Breanna into their new roles.
What a beautiful blue-sky day for a parade celebrating books.
Thank you for all the effort from parents and students to get in the mood for reading and fun!
On Friday 1st of September, Years 3 to 6 went to Yerong Creek for the Bernie O’Connor Carnival. We played with St Joseph’s, Culcairn and St Patrick’s, Holbrook. It was a great day! The sun was shining, and everyone had lot’s of fun.
The 5/6 boys played footy and came 1st for the whole day. We played against The Rock and the score was 12 to 32. The 3-4 boys came 3rd in the whole day. Well done to the 5/6 and 3/4 girls playing netball who got runners up.
Well done to Ivan and Neve for playing with students they didn’t know.
Congratulations to Blake for winning the furthest kicking competition.
Thank you for the coaches and families who helped on the day.

We are currently holding a fundraiser for scripture in public schools around the Henty and Culcairn areas, especially Billabong High School.
The money raised will go towards providing the curriculum and booklets for the volunteers who teach at the public schools, as well as the Billabong High School scripture teacher - Sonja Dionysius.
Please feel free to circulate the below link far and wide. All you have to do is order some beautiful bulbs from the website through the link below. 40% of Tesselaar profits go directly to Scripture locally. Plus, who doesn't love spring flowers!
Here’s a pic I took of some ranunculus I ordered from Tesselaar last year.
