A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

We are blessed that our school is in a strong position in 2024. We have professional staff, engaged students and a supportive parent community. Everything is tracking well.

Unfortunately, our neighbouring Lutheran school in Wagga has been going through a challenging time. Their Principal Mrs Janet Moeller left on short notice and the interim Principal, Mr Dylan Evans, has just been diagnosed with cancer.

Since we are in such a positive space, we have been able to offer Mrs Hollie Kinning to step into the interim Principal position for a short tenure. This gesture is actually something I feel proud of. I would hope for the same response if ever we needed the support from a sister school.

Supporting Wagga Wagga Lutheran School

Yours in Christian service

Brad Moss

Principal

Hollie will be contracted to Lutheran School Wagga Wagga for 6 weeks this term, beginning on Monday 4 March and concluding on Friday 12 April.

To limit disruption to our school and students, we have employed Mrs Naomi Willis who will be on Year 4/5/6 in Hollie’s absence. Mrs Christine Biar will step into a coordinator role to lead school activities/events and respond to immediate student and staff needs. St John’s Jindera Deputies, Mrs Alison Jafari and Mrs Re Bothe, will oversee staff professional development and lead staff meetings throughout the term.

Thank you for your support and understanding as Hollie spends time assisting a school in need. We also pray healing over Dylan as he embarks on a journey of recovery following surgery.

HAPPENINGS WITH HOLLIE

It’s amazing the twists and turns that life can throw at us and at these moments, it’s great to remember that God is in control.

Brad has sent out a letter informing you that there are challenges within our Riverina Lutheran School Community and right now, our prayers are with Dylan from Lutheran School Wagga Wagga.

Blessings,

Hollie

As of the 4th March I will be joining Lutheran School Wagga Wagga for 6 weeks and although I have mixed feelings about not being at Henty, in the community I know and love, it is great to support people in their time of need.

I have full confidence in the staff in Henty to do an incredible job while I’m away and I’m sure all will run smoothly.  Thank you for all your incredible support as a school family.  Six weeks will be over before we know it.

I look forward to connecting with you next week at our Friday Night Gathering.

IMPORTANT DATES

A couple of reminders from Alison's Desk:

* There are quite a few items in lost property. Please come in and check when you are next passing by. I'm very happy to write names in permanent marker for any of the students who come and ask me.

* Summer is around the corner and there are new after school activities: please let me know if there are any changes for the after-school routines for your child. If it's a once off, don't forget to call, text or email before 3:00pm. If it's for the rest of the term, please write an email.

Thanks!!

ATTENTION ADMIN

YEAR K & 1

We had a great time at the Swimming Carnival last week but were all very tired last Wednesday night!

The K,1 class were very excited on the arrival of our new table. Now we have many different places to choose from when working.

In our Christian Studies lessons, we have been looking at who Jesus is and what he may have looked like. Have a look at our pictures of what we think Jesus looked like.

The K,1 class will be leading chapel next Tuesday, 27th February and have started practising.  You are all welcome to come along and worship with us.

Blessings,

Christine Biar

YEAR 2 & 3

Last week, 2/3 went on a walk around Henty as the launch of our PBL project. Our project focuses on significant people, places and events in our local community. We found many signs where historical sites use to be.

We had an exciting delivery of a new low desk for the classroom. It is already our new favourite desk in our class!

A reminder that we have now started sending home weekly readers which need to be returned on Mondays for students to be able to take home new readers.

Blessings,

Miss Ridley

The last couple of weeks have been pretty busy in the 4/5/6 room. We’ve enjoyed meeting with you all for Student Conferences, hearing from you and setting the scene for your child and their learning together. We have been so impressed with how well everyone has settled and the calm environment we are creating in collaboration in our room.

Our brains have been stretched in our maths lessons throughout the term and all students have been showing persistence. The main areas we’ve been covering are:

  • Place Value
  • Multiplication (ask your child about the game Buzz.. it’s a good game to play in the car or anywhere really!)
  • Subtraction (with trading)
  • Our first fun investigation will take place in Week 6…

Blessings,

Hollie Kinning

Thanks to the hard work of our students and families selling tickets for the P&F Major Raffle, we were able to raise an amazing $1,380!

A huge Thank You must also go to our donors, without your support we'd have no raffle. There was a slight change in the location for the accommodation and meal voucher due to unforeseen circumstances but we are very confident our winners will still enjoy a night out!

Congratulations to our prize winners!

BOOK PARADE

What a beautiful blue-sky day for a parade celebrating books.

Thank you for all the effort from parents and students to get in the mood for reading and fun!

BERNIE O'CONNOR CARNIVAL

On Friday 1st of September, Years 3 to 6 went to Yerong Creek for the Bernie O’Connor Carnival. We played with St Joseph’s, Culcairn and St Patrick’s, Holbrook. It was a great day!  The sun was shining, and everyone had lot’s of fun.

The 5/6 boys played footy and came 1st for the whole day. We played against The Rock and the score was 12 to 32. The 3-4 boys came 3rd in the whole day. Well done to the 5/6 and 3/4 girls playing netball who got runners up.

Well done to Ivan and Neve for playing with students they didn’t know.

Congratulations to Blake for winning the furthest kicking competition.

Thank you for the coaches and families who helped on the day.

We are currently holding a fundraiser for scripture in public schools around the Henty and Culcairn areas, especially Billabong High School.

The money raised will go towards providing the curriculum and booklets for the volunteers who teach at the public schools, as well as the Billabong High School scripture teacher - Sonja Dionysius.

Please feel free to circulate the below link far and wide.  All you have to do is order some beautiful bulbs from the website through the link below. 40% of Tesselaar profits go directly to Scripture locally. Plus, who doesn't love spring flowers!

Here’s a pic I took of some ranunculus I ordered from Tesselaar last year.
