A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Father's Day is a day that recognises and appreciates the influence, love, and support that fathers and father figures provide. It's an occasion that can strengthen family bonds, foster emotional connections and remind us of the enduring importance of fatherhood in our lives.

It's not just a day for biological fathers. Father's Day also acknowledges and honours stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other male figures who have played a significant role in someone's life.

I have been blessed to have a father who was an extremely strong guide throughout my formative years. My father unfortunately passed away in 2006 and there is now a gap in what would’ve continued to be an important relationship as an adult. However, I look back over my childhood with gratitude and hope I can be the positive influence in my own children that my father had on me and my brothers.

As I shared in last week’s Chapel, being present in the moment is a foundation to building relationships. Being intentionally present fosters strong emotional bonds between adults and children. When kids feel that they have your undivided attention, they are more likely to open up and share their thoughts and feelings.

Children who feel valued and heard, are more likely to have higher self-esteem. Your presence communicates that you care about their thoughts and feelings, boosting their self-worth.

The time you spend with your children forms the basis of cherished memories for both you and them. These memories contribute to a positive family culture and can have a lasting impact on their adult lives.

Ephesians 3:15 - God is the Father above all fathers.

“God is the Father from whom all fatherhood derives its name.”

Yours in Christian service

Brad Moss

Principal

In our fast-paced world filled with distractions, being intentionally present with kids can be challenging but is all the more essential. It requires making a conscious effort to prioritise your children and create meaningful connections with them.

To me, there is a purpose to Father’s Day. It is a day set aside for us as father figures to reflect on how we, as men, speak life into the children in our care. Our role is to be the wisdom and encouragers to raise the next generation of strong, empathetic and confident people.

HAPPENINGS WITH HOLLIE

Another fortnight has come and gone, and the end of the term is fast approaching. After the excitement of Toy Story 2, it’s been great getting back into routine here at school.

Final chapel for Term 3 & Learning Showcase

Next Tuesday, 12th September, will be our final chapel for the term. Our sports captains along with myself will be leading the service. Our special ‘St Paul’s Spirit’ Awards will be handed out on this day.

Also on this day we will be holding a Showcase of Learning! We’d love it if you can make it on Tuesday 12th September.

Kinder Transition

Wednesday 13th September will be the first of five transition sessions held at school for those students who are looking to start Kinder in 2024. If you know of any families who have a child ready to start school, feel free to send them a copy of the transition flyer which has been emailed to all school families. Spread the word about how good St Paul’s is!

Book Parade

Thursday 6th September was our school book parade. This year, we chose to focus mainly on hats. The sun was shining and it was wonderful to see our students show a character from a book that is special to them. There were some classics this year… Anne of Green Gables, Mr Darcy, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Peter Rabbit to name a few. Some sporting characters, lots of animals, some Roald Dahl characters and many more.

Thank you, parents, for helping your child/ren to come along in their hats (and costumes). We love books and believe that reading is an absolute super power!

Have a blessed week!

Hollie

Our school is using the Perspectives: Your school in focus suite of surveys developed by AISNSW to support our school improvement endeavours. The information gathered will assist in furthering the growth and development of our school community. We will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

These surveys have been specifically designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of stakeholders’ perceptions of five important areas: School Environment, Teaching and Learning, Student Wellbeing, Leadership and Community. All staff, students, parents/guardians, leaders and board members will be invited to participate.

The surveys were emailed earlier this week, and will be available from 7th August to 20th August. The surveys are conducted online, taking approximately 15- 20 minutes to complete. The survey link has been distributed via email to all from ‘evidence@aisnsw.edu,au’ on behalf of the school.

Your input and contribution are important to the success of our continuous school improvement process as we aspire to improve the learning experience for everyone at our school.

For any enquiries about the surveys please contact the school for more details.

YEAR K & 1

Last Friday we farewelled Ms Shaeley Brown, who has been in the K/1 class for the last 4 weeks. Shaeley is studying teaching through the University of New England. We loved having Shaeley with us, and we wish her all the best for the rest of her studies.

We have been enjoying reading lots of new books that Mrs Zweck was able to purchase through the Book Fair.

Thank you to everyone who bought books and allowed this to happen. We LOVE reading books!

The Hat Parade was so much fun on Wednesday! All the K/1 students wore a hat to represent a book character.

We had everything from pirates to penguins! It’s great to see the students getting so excited about books!

It’s been nice to get back into normality and particularly great that we have been able to enjoy heading outdoors for some of our maths lessons!

The photos are of our students in action determining the area of their hands and looking for right, acute and obtuse angles around our school grounds.

Our focus last week and this week has been:

This week, 5-6 had their new PBL launch! We watched a tour of the International Space Station and learnt how astronauts drink water in space. 5-6 then went on a cruise through the Solar System to learn about the different planets. We investigated the phases of the moon using Oreos and used marshmallows to create constellations that you can see from Australia, like the Southern Cross.

5-6 will find out their driving question next week but we know that it will be space themed!

Many blessings,

Miss Katie Ridley
