A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

The speeches for our 2024 captain’s roles were fantastic! Our Year 5 students did a marvellous job and should feel proud of themselves for stepping forward as a candidate. One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is working with young leaders and developing their capacity to contribute to the life of the school. I particularly enjoy seeing them grow in confidence as they realise their potential and the positive impacts they can have on the culture and progress within their school.

Our Students Know the Power of Positive Leadership

Yours in Christian service

Brad Moss

Principal

I am looking forward to working with our Year 6 Leaders next year!

Positive leadership nurtures growth, inspires strength, and illuminates the potential in everyone. It's about fostering an environment where encouragement, support, and a forward-looking mindset prevail. A positive leader empowers others, cultivates a sense of purpose, and leads by example, creating a ripple effect of optimism and productivity within their team. This style of positive leadership often leads to increased motivation, higher morale, and a more resilient and innovative team.

In Matthew 20:25-28, Jesus tells His disciples that leaders should not exercise authority over people. Instead, whoever wants to become great must lower himself to be a servant. Leaders realise that serving others is the only way to lead with a pure heart, free of pride and arrogance.

At St Paul’s, we inspire our leaders to lead with a servant heart, with empathy and with purpose.

HAPPENINGS WITH HOLLIE

Chapel

This term we have been discussing collaboration. One way we’re putting this into practice is by inviting people into our school to lead us in worship. We love collaborating with members of our community and hearing the word they have for us. We thank Sharee Wilson, Nat Stroh and John Borchert for their willingness to be part of our services this term.

Talented Students

Sunday week ago, I attended a Dance Concert in the Henty School of Arts hall. Henty is blessed to have a dance teacher such as Ms Lily!

Several of our students competed in a competition and others performed. I was so impressed with the level of talent, commitment and dedication to their routines.

Congratulations to Meg and Sora who won the competition on the day!

Freestyle Dance Ministry

Last Friday we were fortunate enough to have Justin from Dance Ministry lead the school in a fun and engaging hip hop dance workshop. Feel free to click on the link to find out more about this ministry: Freestyle Dance Ministry | Dance. Discussion. Discipleship - Freestyle Dance Ministry

A couple of reminders from Alison's Desk:

* There are quite a few items in lost property. Please come in and check when you are next passing by. I'm very happy to write names in permanent marker for any of the students who come and ask me.

* Summer is around the corner and there are new after school activities: please let me know if there are any changes for the after-school routines for your child. If it's a once off, don't forget to call, text or email before 3:00pm. If it's for the rest of the term, please write an email.

Thanks!!

ATTENTION ADMIN

YEAR K & 1

The K/1 class really enjoyed listening to the story James and the Giant Peach. So we had to watch the video and compare the two versions.

With our beanbags and popcorn, we settled down one Friday afternoon for a lovely movie session in the classroom.

The Kinders and Year 1s did a fantastic job at presenting chapel on Tuesday. Continuing with the theme of collaboration and team work, we showed how bees work together to make honey and how lots of cups together can hold the weight of Jude! Great job!

At our Kinder Transition session on Wednesday, we made houses and huffed and puffed and tried to blow the house down! We loved re-enacting the story of the Three Little Pigs and especially being the Big Bad Wolf!

Lots of fun was had making sequencing circles, decorating houses and of course building houses.

Our final Transition session will be a Teddy Bears’ Picnic on Wednesday 29th November.

Blessings for the week ahead,

Christine Biar

YEAR 2, 3 & 4

Blessings,

Hollie, Felicity & Debbie

This last fortnight has been our designated assessment weeks so class time routines have looked slightly different to normal.

We did enjoy a visit from seven of Neve’s very cute puppies.

We’ve all been enjoying learning new skills on the tennis court the last two weeks. This will continue for three more weeks. If students have their own racquet, they are welcome to bring it in, (Thursday 16th, Friday 24th and Friday 1st).

Project Based Learning is in full swing within the 5/6 class making their space junk collectors.

We were joined by Chloe Klemke last week who helped us learn about circuits and electricity. We practised making different circuits and now students are putting circuits into their PBL projects!

We were very blessed to have Bek Lubke join us in Christian Studies to talk about Bible translations.

Bek discussed the work that the Bible Society does in Australia and their fundraiser ‘Bikes for Bibles’.  We were taught a bible verse in AUSLAN Sign Language and played bible verse charades. 5/6 had a very fun afternoon!

Thank you Bek!

Blessings,

Miss Katie Ridley

WELLBEING WITH SARA

Years ago, when my children were much younger, I purchased a book by clinical psychologist, Andrew Fuller (Unlocking Your Child’s Genius). I have referred to this book so many times over the years for inspiration and at times reassurance that I was doing what I could to bring out the best in my kids.

At times, I am sure, we all feel the holiday slump when we have things to do (like Christmas and harvest and New Year and a long drive ahead for the holidays with kids in the backseat) and it is difficult to think up simple activities that our children can do that does “bring out their natural genius”. So, see below for some great suggestions by Andrew Fuller (who is hilarious, intelligent, and well renowned) for some simple things that are great for your children’s growing minds.

1.    Taking on some new hobbies. Let the children join in on an invention (farmers are great at these).

Read some new books together (or listen to one as a family in the car).

5.     Jumping on a trampoline – it just feels good to fly.

Blessings,

Sara Durning

2.     Creativity Corner in the house – a place where children can begin, work on and persist with their own creations.

Don’t worry about the mess, just pop a drop sheet down and clean up after the holidays.

3.     Involve the children in your lived experience. Ask the children about things they have seen or find curious. Find a new way to do something that you do on repeat.

4.     Look for strange and weird ways to connect things – ask questions, like...  “How are Mars and an apple the same?”. The answers aren’t important, expand their thinking by generating questions. Sometimes there is not an answer and that is ok.

Thanks to the hard work of our students and families selling tickets for the P&F Major Raffle, we were able to raise an amazing $1,380!

A huge Thank You must also go to our donors, without your support we'd have no raffle. There was a slight change in the location for the accommodation and meal voucher due to unforeseen circumstances but we are very confident our winners will still enjoy a night out!

Congratulations to our prize winners!

BOOK PARADE

What a beautiful blue-sky day for a parade celebrating books.

Thank you for all the effort from parents and students to get in the mood for reading and fun!

BERNIE O'CONNOR CARNIVAL

On Friday 1st of September, Years 3 to 6 went to Yerong Creek for the Bernie O’Connor Carnival. We played with St Joseph’s, Culcairn and St Patrick’s, Holbrook. It was a great day!  The sun was shining, and everyone had lot’s of fun.

The 5/6 boys played footy and came 1st for the whole day. We played against The Rock and the score was 12 to 32. The 3-4 boys came 3rd in the whole day. Well done to the 5/6 and 3/4 girls playing netball who got runners up.

Well done to Ivan and Neve for playing with students they didn’t know.

Congratulations to Blake for winning the furthest kicking competition.

Thank you for the coaches and families who helped on the day.
