A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

One of the favourite parts of my role is connecting to our school community to showcase student learning. Parents coming together to support our students is a HUGE strength of St Paul’s. Thank you for your support of our students throughout the year as they showcased learning, performance and led us in worship at Chapel.

We are blessed with such a dedicated parent team at our school. A huge thank you to the P&F (mammoth cooking team) running the Henty Field Day cook up. Not only is this a fantastic way to raise funds for our school, but it is also an example of the generous support we have in our school community.

ST PAUL’S... A STRONG SCHOOL COMMUNITY

Yours in Christian service

Brad Moss

Principal

The power of a positive school community is truly remarkable and can have a profound impact on students. A close-knit school community reinforces positive emotional and physical safety for students. They feel a sense of belonging, which can boost their self-esteem and motivation to learn.

Engaged parents can have a significant impact on a child's education. A strong school community is where families and staff are in high levels of communication to support each child. When students, teachers, and parents work together, it promotes a collaborative learning environment that students benefit from.

Beyond academics, a supportive school community can help students develop important social and emotional skills such as empathy, communication, and conflict resolution. A positive school culture is crucial for effective learning. A strong community cultivates a culture of respect, inclusivity, and enthusiasm for learning.

It is a privilege to be the Principal of St Paul’s and I am looking forward to many more events to bring our whole school community together! Thank you for your support of our school and our fantastic students!

Staff pray you all have a safe and fun-filled term break. See you all back on Tuesday 10 October for a powerful Term 4.

HAPPENINGS WITH HOLLIE

We also spoke about how friends do these things, how we pick up when someone is and may not be travelling that well. We spoke about the qualities of good friends and that anyone, regardless of age, can ask the question RUOK?

Staff also dressed up in yellow and black for the occasion! It’s great to be able to reflect and take the time to show we care for the people around us.

1.   Ask R U OK?

2.   Listen

3.   Encourage action

4.   Check in

RUOK Day

Last Thursday we as a school decided to reflect on RUOK Day in our classrooms. All classes participated in an activity based on this. We spoke about the four things we can do to start a conversation:

Happy Holidays

I wish you all a wonderful two-week break with your families. Thank you, yet again, for your support this term. It’s wonderful to be part of the St Paul’s community and to witness the support and dedication of parents and students is amazing. Thank you!

Learning Showcase

At the beginning of the term we sat down as a staff team to discuss our learning goals for students this term. We knew that it would be a big term with production so wanted to trial something a little different. We decided on an inquiry learning task that students could work on fairly independently with support as needed.

Our Down the Rabbit Hole Inquiry tasks were a task that we felt met this brief. Students were given a matrix of learning plus a planning sheet at the beginning of the unit to explain and highlight what was required.

The assessment matrix is a snippet of the full document. The other areas staff were looking at were: research, creativity, presentation and reflection.

Have a blessed week!

Hollie

Kindergarten Transition

Last Tuesday we held the first of five Kinder 2024 Transition sessions. A reminder, if you know of anyone who is starting school next year, please tell them about our amazing school. Feel free to contact the office if you need a flyer to share.

Our school is using the Perspectives: Your school in focus suite of surveys developed by AISNSW to support our school improvement endeavours. The information gathered will assist in furthering the growth and development of our school community. We will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

These surveys have been specifically designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of stakeholders’ perceptions of five important areas: School Environment, Teaching and Learning, Student Wellbeing, Leadership and Community. All staff, students, parents/guardians, leaders and board members will be invited to participate.

The surveys were emailed earlier this week, and will be available from 7th August to 20th August. The surveys are conducted online, taking approximately 15- 20 minutes to complete. The survey link has been distributed via email to all from ‘evidence@aisnsw.edu,au’ on behalf of the school.

Your input and contribution are important to the success of our continuous school improvement process as we aspire to improve the learning experience for everyone at our school.

For any enquiries about the surveys please contact the school for more details.

YEAR K & 1

Last Wednesday we welcomed the new Kinders for 2024 to school! Together with this years’ Kinders, they enjoyed the topic of colour. We painted a coloured sheep, made a colourful rainbow, sorted objects into their colours and watched the story of Noah and the rainbow.

We look forward to them returning to school on 18th October.

On Monday, the K/1/2 students travelled to Wagga Wagga for their excursion. We were blessed with lovely weather for our walk around the zoo, where we saw many animals including dingoes, kangaroos, emus, camels, birds, guinea pigs, Shetland ponies, deer and donkeys.

The new playground at the Botanic Gardens was a hit with all students. They loved the maze, flying fox and climbing frames. We even had a walk in a rainforest.

I think all students went home rather tired after a fun day!

I hope all students and parents enjoy a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. I look forward to seeing everyone again next term!

YEAR 2, 3 & 4

Blessings,

Hollie, Felicity & Debbie

What a term it’s been! Our 2/3/4 class did such a wonderful job finishing off their PBL Unit by catering for our Learning Showcase.

Thank you to those parents who came along to celebrate and join with our students in their learning journey.

The last two weeks we have enjoyed all things money related in our maths lessons. All students were given $20 at the beginning of Week 9 and have had the opportunity to earn money and also possibly be fined throughout our unit.

Using and understanding money is such a practical skill that students will need for the rest of their lives and it has been a fun way to grow and learn.

Students had their speech exams which included students preparing a variety of pieces including memorised work, demonstrations, and anthology.

5/6 have had a busy end to the term!

We also had our Down the Rabbit Hole Showcase last week where we got to share with our families the work we have done on our chosen country.

In English, we have been studying biographies and have each written a biography on an inspirational person.

Have a fantastic holiday.

Miss Katie Ridley

YEAR 5 & 6

FATHER'S DAY BREAKFAST

Thank you to our wonderful P & F who provided a yummy, nourishing start to the day!  Thank you to the helpers and the chef's, the families who attended and our lovely St Paul's hens who provided some of the eggs!

We celebrate the dad's, mentors and all those who have helped guide us in our lives.

AWARDS & CHAPEL

...and finally the 'St Paul's Spirit Award' for Term 3 was presented to Micah, Meg and Jude.

Week 9 Chapel was led by Mrs Kinning and the Year 6 Captains.

We learnt about the Parable of the Sower.

Next, Mrs Grace Stein presented the results of the ASCA Exams to the students.

P & F RAFFLE

Thanks to the hard work of our students and families selling tickets for the P&F Major Raffle, we were able to raise an amazing $1,380!

A huge Thank You must also go to our donors, without your support we'd have no raffle. There was a slight change in the location for the accommodation and meal voucher due to unforeseen circumstances but we are very confident our winners will still enjoy a night out!

Congratulations to our prize winners!

What a beautiful blue-sky day for a parade celebrating books.

Thank you for all the effort from parents and students to get in the mood for reading and fun!

BERNIE O'CONNOR CARNIVAL

On Friday 1st of September, Years 3 to 6 went to Yerong Creek for the Bernie O’Connor Carnival. We played with St Joseph’s, Culcairn and St Patrick’s, Holbrook. It was a great day!  The sun was shining, and everyone had lot’s of fun.

The 5/6 boys played footy and came 1st for the whole day. We played against The Rock and the score was 12 to 32. The 3-4 boys came 3rd in the whole day. Well done to the 5/6 and 3/4 girls playing netball who got runners up.

Well done to Ivan and Neve for playing with students they didn’t know.

Congratulations to Blake for winning the furthest kicking competition.

Thank you for the coaches and families who helped on the day.
