TERM 2
WEEK 5
WEEK 5
Easter is an important time for us at St Paul’s. At its core, Easter focusses on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, affirming the belief in his victory over death and sin. This event symbolises hope, redemption, and renewal, serving as a testament to God's immense love and mercy towards us.
Farewell Sara
Easter
The unfortunate reality of any workplace is saying farewell to a staff member. It is with sadness but with gratitude, we farewell Sara at the end of the term.
Sara has been an integral part of our wellbeing initiatives, working closely with our students and supporting our staff members. We appreciate her unwavering support of our school community and her professional approach as a St Paul’s team member.
Sara, we thank you for your time here at St Paul’s and pray blessings on your journey ahead!
Easter is not merely a historical event but a living reality that continues to shape us. It's a time of joyous celebration and it's the ultimate reminder that no matter how dark things may seem, there's always a glimmer of hope waiting to shine through.
This song by Phil Wickham is a beautiful narrative of the importance of the Easter weekend!

It’s amazing the twists and turns that life can throw at us and at these moments, it’s great to remember that God is in control.
Brad has sent out a letter informing you that there are challenges within our Riverina Lutheran School Community and right now, our prayers are with Dylan from Lutheran School Wagga Wagga.
Blessings,
Hollie
As of the 4th March I will be joining Lutheran School Wagga Wagga for 6 weeks and although I have mixed feelings about not being at Henty, in the community I know and love, it is great to support people in their time of need.
I have full confidence in the staff in Henty to do an incredible job while I’m away and I’m sure all will run smoothly. Thank you for all your incredible support as a school family. Six weeks will be over before we know it.
I look forward to connecting with you next week at our Friday Night Gathering.

The K/1 class have enjoyed unpacking the Easter stories over the Easter period. We have looked at Palm Sunday, Good Friday and, of course, Easter Sunday.
Our classroom display shows some of the symbolism which we use during this period of the church year.
In Maths, we have been practising our skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s. What better way to skip count by fives than to use our fingers!
We are looking forward to Cross Country next week, and showing everyone what great stamina we have been developing.
Blessings for a safe and relaxing holiday break,
Christine Biar

What a fun morning we had cooking last week! The day before, we needed to go shopping for the ingredients and work out the most cost-effective way to buy our supplies.
On Thursday, the Year 2 to 6 classes gathered in the hall and together we made chocolate Easter egg nests. We all agreed that they were very tasty!
We continued the Easter fun with art activity rotations which included drawing, painting and card making.
We ended the day watching an Easter movie together.
Our class has been learning about empathy and how it relates to our everyday lives. We were able to see this in action as we hosted our International Students from Japan and taught them how to play a game of European Handball.
With the Easter season upon us, our very own Mitch was able to remind us of what the season is all about; Jesus Christ demonstrated His love for us by dying on a cross.
Did someone say budgets? Our class was able to put Math into practice with a trip to the local grocery store. We not only stayed in budget but we also did our math computations for our recipes. Way to go class!
Our trip to the local IGA proved to be worth it when we discovered the slurpee machine!

All classes this term have explored and created a range of artworks based on the history, purpose and traditional techniques of Aboriginal art.
The K/1 class has explored the attributes of both geometric and organic shapes and where these shapes can be found in everyday life, on Country and in First Nations Peoples’ artworks. They have looked at ways First Nations Peoples use shapes and symbols to share messages.
Students have had the opportunity to identify geometric and organic shapes in familiar contexts and on Country, recognise the value of shapes and symbols in First Nations Peoples’ histories, cultures and artworks as a way of communicating information, and create artworks as means of communication.
The 2/3 class has been inspired by one of Australia’s most famous artists, Jimmy Pike throughout this term. Jimmy was one of the first artists of the contemporary Indigenous art movement to use vibrant colour instead of more traditional earth tones.
The emphasis of our lessons has been on three main themes that are central to Jimmy Pike’s work: energy, connection to country or place, and joyful colour.
Through a range of activities, including art-making, viewings and discussions, students have responded to Jimmy’s artworks, with the opportunity to explore the elements of art such as line, colour, shape while focusing on themselves, feelings and special places.
The 4/5/6 class has addressed the history of Aboriginal art in Australia and the variety of techniques used in different artworks. They have had the opportunity to identify the different types of Aboriginal art in Australia and to understand the history and traditional techniques of Aboriginal rock art, sand drawings, bark paintings, body painting, x-ray art, crosshatching and dot painting.

Students are loving the newly installed artificial turf.
What a beautiful blue-sky day for a parade celebrating books.
Thank you for all the effort from parents and students to get in the mood for reading and fun!
On Friday 1st of September, Years 3 to 6 went to Yerong Creek for the Bernie O’Connor Carnival. We played with St Joseph’s, Culcairn and St Patrick’s, Holbrook. It was a great day! The sun was shining, and everyone had lot’s of fun.
The 5/6 boys played footy and came 1st for the whole day. We played against The Rock and the score was 12 to 32. The 3-4 boys came 3rd in the whole day. Well done to the 5/6 and 3/4 girls playing netball who got runners up.
Well done to Ivan and Neve for playing with students they didn’t know.
Congratulations to Blake for winning the furthest kicking competition.
Thank you for the coaches and families who helped on the day.

We are currently holding a fundraiser for scripture in public schools around the Henty and Culcairn areas, especially Billabong High School.
The money raised will go towards providing the curriculum and booklets for the volunteers who teach at the public schools, as well as the Billabong High School scripture teacher - Sonja Dionysius.
Please feel free to circulate the below link far and wide. All you have to do is order some beautiful bulbs from the website through the link below. 40% of Tesselaar profits go directly to Scripture locally. Plus, who doesn't love spring flowers!
Here’s a pic I took of some ranunculus I ordered from Tesselaar last year.
