A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Easter is an important time for us at St Paul’s. At its core, Easter focusses on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, affirming the belief in his victory over death and sin. This event symbolises hope, redemption, and renewal, serving as a testament to God's immense love and mercy towards us.

Farewell Sara

Easter

The unfortunate reality of any workplace is saying farewell to a staff member. It is with sadness but with gratitude, we farewell Sara at the end of the term.

Sara has been an integral part of our wellbeing initiatives, working closely with our students and supporting our staff members. We appreciate her unwavering support of our school community and her professional approach as a St Paul’s team member.

Sara, we thank you for your time here at St Paul’s and pray blessings on your journey ahead!

Easter is not merely a historical event but a living reality that continues to shape us. It's a time of joyous celebration and it's the ultimate reminder that no matter how dark things may seem, there's always a glimmer of hope waiting to shine through.

This song by Phil Wickham is a beautiful narrative of the importance of the Easter weekend!

HAPPENINGS WITH HOLLIE

Term 2 is well underway and it’s great to be back on board at St Paul’s.

It’s often through the challenging times that we look to God for help. We should always do this, rather than just in the tough times, but regardless, we have a God who loves us and wants what is best for us. Thank you for your support in the recent news of my new position starting in January 2025. It will be very hard to leave this community but I know that God has St Paul’s Henty in His hands and that’s a great assurance.

How good it is that we have God’s Word and promises to cling on to. A couple favourite verses I often come back to:

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

"For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Thank you for the support in our recent Athletics Carnival last week. A massive thank you to Felicity Habermann for a well organised carnival, to the St Paul’s College grounds staff for preparing the grounds for our use, the College students for helping us rotate our students around and for you, the parents, for your support on the day. It makes for great fun having you there!

There are quite a few events coming up early this term…

This is always a great way to build awareness, understanding and empathy in our students through engaging activities.

P &F Meeting

We’re so thankful for the wonderful parents who make up the P&F. Next meeting is Monday 13th May, 7pm at Kerri & Matthew’s House.

Mother’s Day

On Tuesday 14th May we will be honouring the special women in our lives with a special chapel service lead by our K/1 class, followed by a morning tea and activities in the classrooms. We hope to see you there.

Blessings,

Hollie

Friday Night Gathering

Our next gathering will be on Friday 31st May. More details to follow, but same time (6pm) and place (school hall).

Uniform reminders

The sun is still shining, so hats are still being worn in the playground. However, as the weather cools down and the jackets come out, please make sure your child’s clothes are labelled as much as possible.

I’m looking forward to another busy, but enjoyable term of learning alongside students, families and staff.

ALWS Visit

Celia from ALWS will be with us Friday 10th May and lead sessions with each of the three classes.

Topics covered will be:

  • Is it Fair?
  • What does being poor really mean?

Last day Term 1

YEAR K & 1

So much learning has been happening in the K/1 classroom!

The Kinders are continuing to learn their single sounds. They enjoyed using shaving cream to practise writing their letters.

The Year Ones have been busy developing their writing skills. I have been SO impressed with the way that they are using their digraphs and reading skills when writing, as well as remembering capital letters, full stops and spaces between words. Not to mention such beautiful, neat work! Awesome work!

We are looking forward to leading Chapel next Tuesday for Mother’s Day. You are all welcome to come along and see us shine!

Welcome back!

This week we have been reading ‘The Story About Ping’. The story follows Ping, a little duck, who is left behind from his family on the Yangtze River. We then learnt how to make origami boats to create an art display in our classroom.

Our PBL unit will begin soon and we need recycled materials for our project. Examples of some items that would be fantastic for our project include:

After a busy start to the term, this week we are back into our normal routine of learning.

In mathematics this week, we are looking at arrays, factors and multiplication and using some different approaches in order to practise this. We are also looking at symmetry in shapes and pictures.

Our learning intentions are:

We are learning to identify the factors of whole numbers

We are learning to identify and describe lines of symmetry in shapes and pictures.

Our focus sound this week is g/gg as in girl. Our challenge was to come up with as many words with g/gg in them as possible in a 2-minute window, (quantity not quality in this challenge!) We are also improving segmenting words into sounds. For example, the word giggle has 4 sounds - g/i/gg/le.
